There’s Much Room for Cooperation between the Two
Universities

The University of East Anglia was founded in 1961 and is, based in the city of Norwich, UK.There are nearly 15,000 students - over 11,000 undergraduates and more than 3,000 postgraduates. Over 2,500 non UK students from more than 100 countries worldwide .
The University is popular with students, and its success in raising research funding means it is well respected in the field of scientific research. Biotechnology, engineering and environmental sciences have 5* (five star) ratings by the UK’s Higher Education Funding Council, the highest research rating category. Overall it is one of four universities in the UK that achieves 5 or 5* rating.
                      

On the afternoon of November 6th, Professor Trevor Davies, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Transfer at University of East Anglia, was interviewed during a break in the 2008 Yangling International Agri-science forum. He noted that there was a lot of room for cooperation between UEA and Northwest A&F University.

“We have many same or similar subjects, such as biotechnology, molecular biology, environmental sciences, and economics. I think if there’s opportunity, we can develop cooperation in these fields.” He went on to say that the subjects of environmental sciences and biotechnology are the best in UEA, and that there is a national center for food research. “We also have research projects concerning the transformation of agricultural fruits, and we discuss the industrialization of agriculture, which is similar to your University.”
Professor Trevor Davies was sure that cooperation on environmental sciences and research was possible between UEA and Northwest A&F University, particularly on assessing greenhouse gas emissions in farm fields. Professor Davies reported that he has been involved in related research on over 200 farms in the UK, and that it would add significant value if such research could also be conducted in China. He looked forward to cooperation on the project between the two Universities. Referring to Northwest A&F University, he said “This is a university which is aspirant and attractive.” After attending the forum, he talked to many students, referring to them as warm-hearted and generous. He also answered students’ questions in the forum and enjoyed discussion with them.
